What do I charge for childcare?

Pricing and Charging Policy, including Government Funded Early Years Education and Childcare:

My opening hours are 7.30am – 5.30pm.  Early years children (babies and preschool age) are required to attend a minimum of 7 hours per day, this allows us plenty of time to go out and enjoy our day rather than being tied to the house.  Childcare for early years children is £6.50 per hour (if not funded by the government).

You will be asked to sign a contract to secure your child's place and pay a small deposit.  By doing this, you confirm that you agree to my terms and conditions, some of which are listed below:

  • I do not work bank holidays, so parents are not expected to pay me on these days.
  • If I am on holiday or off sick, then there is no charge.  If your child is off due to sickness or holidays, then the full fee is charged.
  • Fees should be paid monthly in advance, late payment will result in a charge, details will be in the contract.   I ask that fees are paid by the last working day of the month (for example, fees for January should be paid by the last working day in December).
  • A late collection free of £3.50 per 15 minutes is charged for any child who is collected late.

I deliver the Government funded early years education and childcare places.  The setting is open approximately 47.5 weeks per year, funding is stretched across the year rather than being term time only.  You might want to check if you are eligible for the tax-free childcare scheme as this can help to reduce costs of any additional hours.

Please note that funding is advertised as either 15 or 30 hours, however this is the amount per week for term time only care.  It equates to around 12 or 24 hours per week when stretched across 47.5 weeks.  The fees for funded hours are paid directly to the childminder by the Local Authority.  I do not require a deposit for these places, refundable or otherwise.

Parents will be sent an invoice each month for any additional hours required as well as the voluntary contribution towards food (3.50 per day).

Lunch and snacks are given to each child either at home, in picnics or in cafes/coffee shops.   The children love to visit Costa for a Babychino and toast).  The £3.50 is a contribution towards my expenses, it costs more than this to provide fresh food and cater for special diets, allergies and intolerances.   Whilst this fee is voluntary, if parents choose not to pay then it would mean changing the ethos of my business.  I strongly believe that everyone eating the same meal encourages healthier eating habits and is a better option than packed lunches.  Visiting cafes helps children to develop social skills and feel part of their community.

Children attending on a Friday will be asked to pay £4 each week (during term time) towards the cost of Totscise.  I pay for most groups and activities, but the cost of this session is higher than other play groups, therefore a contribution towards the cost is needed.

Occasionally we may book theatre tickets or a trip out, I will check if parents are able to contribute first.

Policy updated April 2025 and comes into effect from 1st September.
